An Effective way to film video

A quick guide to taking better video

In an ideal scenario, having us film any/all parts required for a video will result in a better quality product. We also understand this isn’t always possible, so we’ve complied a few hints and tips to help with filming on your device/mobile phone.

Filming

It’s incredibly important that you film horizontal and not vertical. By filming vertical it may result in footage being unusable or resulting in very poor quality.

Lighting

Where possible have subjects face the light and avoid having the sunlight directly behind them.

Settings

Where possible make sure your video settings are set to 1080 resolution.

Audio

If capturing audio, it will sound better the closer you are.

Length

Remember each piece of overlay vision will most likely only be 5-seconds long, so don’t feel the need to overshoot. An assortment of 5-second clips is generally ideal. If capturing interviews keep clips/answers to within 15-30 seconds.

Sending Files

When sending or uploading to Google Drive or Dropbox, sometimes your phone will ask you if you would like to downsize the file to upload faster - always use the MAXIMUM file size for best quality.
